So bear with me, I've never blogged before and I doubt that many people will ever see this but I'll share some of my ideas of American Icons, as far as what will be and some of my favorites from history. I love football and I think that it has become a part of the core to American culture in recent years.

I would also have to say Disney is a pretty important one, not just to me, but is probably shared with millions of people around the world. You could recognize that "D" or the castle from almost anywhere. My family visits a few times each year and my grandfather even bought a stone under the "M" in Magic Kingdom so needless to say I have Disney in my blood. But anywayyyy, I think that Disney represents the American dream. Walt Disney was a man who worked hard and the result obviously paid off in the end, as we still discuss him and recognize his work in celebrating with his iconic mouse.

Okay, finally, my personal favorite. It's not actually an icon by definition...yet, but I feel it is essential to American film and television.....the best show ever....Breaking Bad. I will use any excuse to bring it into conversation and yes it makes me seem crazy when I recite lines to my family and friends when we drive past Cold Stone Creamery or at breakfast

or when knocking on someone's door (yes it's a little out of hand). I think it's so cool because it shows how power hungry we are as a whole in America and the need for self-discovery. In America we celebrate the individual and the ability for us to find ourselves. At 50, Walter White realizes that after his cancer diagnosis, he has played his life by the rules. Things get out of hand when he begins to cook meth, but he learns to love the power it gives him and the control he has of everyone around him. Besides, the writing is a work of pure art.
